Hozan Zangana was born in 1983 in Kirkuk. At the age of fifteen, in 1998, he fled Kurdistan / Iraq and sought asylum in the Netherlands. There, he studied at the esteemed art & design universities Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and Design Academy Eindhoven. Zangana's singular heritage-based design practice has steadily evolved to include an ever-wider range of materials, techniques, collaborations, and contexts. His works, inspired by language, traditions, and rituals, breathe new life into ancient heritage; they are silent objects in a wounded world that encourage human connection.
